The Philippine Women’s Football National Team barged into the semifinals of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Women’s Football Tournament with a 5-0 beating of Malaysia, Friday evening at the Biñan Stadium in Biñan, Laguna.
Sarina Bolden had the magic touch from the get-go as she opened things up for the Filipinas in the 25th minute, tearing through the Malaysian defense for the 1-0 lead.
Alisha Del Campo doubled the Filipinas lead in the 39th minute with a high-arcing header that was impossible to stop.
Just two minutes later, Bolden found the back of the net once again with a strike that went right through the Malaysian keeper’s mitts.
Bolden would add one more to her total just before halftime to push the lead to 4-0 and complete a hat trick.
Eva Madarang added the final blow two minutes into injury time to make it a 5-0 final slate.
With the victory, the Filipinas improve to one win and one draw for four points. More importantly, they advance into the semifinals and move one more step closer to a podium finish.
The Filipinas return to the pitch on December 5th.
