SUBIC - For the second time in a row, Kim Mangrobang is a gold medalist in Southeast Asian Games women’s triathlon.
Mangrobang retained first-place in the 2019 edition of the regional meet as she ruled the run-bike-swin endurance race, Sunday at Subic Bay Boardwalk.
The 28-year-old was ahead of the pack all throughout and clocked in at 2:02:00 - proving she hasn’t missed a beat since her breakthrough gold in the 2017 SEA Games.
Not that far behind was another Filipina in Kim Kilgroe who claimed her first medal in the biennial event with a time of 2:05:02.
The Philippines’ representatives were neck-and-neck in swimming and biking before Mangrobang put space between her and Kilgroe with a 35:43 time in the run phase.
With that, the Philippines registered 1-2 finishes in both women’s and men’s triathlon.
Finishing third at 2:16:33 is Octaria Nethavani of Indonesia.
