SEA Games: Team PHI ends Day 2 with 38 gold medals overall

The Philippines' golden haul jumped to 38 after Day 2 of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
It was the Philippines’ arnisadors turn to add gold medals to the already bulging medal collections of the host nation in Day 2 of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
The traditional Filipino martial arts arnis accounted for seven of the 16 gold medals won by Team Philippines, which now has 38 mints.
Jesfer Huquire delivered gold in men’s bantamweight together with Carloyd Tejada (men’s welterweight), Elmer Manlapas (men’s featherweight), Sheena del Monte (women’s bantamweight), Jedah Mae Soriano (women’s featherweight), Rosh Ashley Monville (women’s lightweight) and Abegail Abad (women’s welterweight) in the arnis competition held at the Angeles University Foundation.
In Batangas, Lea Denise Belgir and John Derick Farr ruled the women’s and men’s downhill mountain bike, respectively.
At the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan, the Nationals dominated the men’s and women’s 3x3 basketball while in Subic, Monica Torres was the queen of women’s duathlon and the team of John Chicano, Kim Mangrobang, Fernando Cesares and Claire Adorna completed the Philippines’ triathlon sweep after capturing the mixed relay event gold.
Olympian Hidilyn Diaz lifted 120 kgs. in clean and jerk and had 91 kgs. snatch for a total of 211 kgs. to reign supreme in the women’s 55kg. weightlifting competition.
Pencak Silat’s Edmar Tacuel (male tunggal) and tandem of Rodel Labayo and Angelo Morales in lawn bowl (men’s pairs) delivered gold medals for the Team Philippines.
The host team as of 10:00 p.m. Monday had 20 silver and 13 bronze medals.
