The Philippine women's volleyball team opens its campaign in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday.
Alyssa Valdez, skipper Aby Marano and the rest of the Philippine team march into action against Vietnam as the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s volleyball competition begins Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Game time is at 6:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, iWant and via livestream.
The Nationals try to ride the momentum of their back-to-back wins against the Vietnamese during the last two legs of the ASEAN Grand Prix to boost their bid for a podium finish in the short competition format.
But it won’t be a cakewalk for the Filipinas this time as Vietnamese star Thi Thanh Thuy Tran is back in the fold for the visiting team after skipping the second leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix held in Sta. Rosa, Laguna two months ago.
All four participating teams will play in a single round robin format where the top two teams will dispute the gold medal while the third and fourth ranked squads battle for bronze.
Meanwhile, 11-time defending champion Thailand and Indonesia clash in the curtain-raiser at 3:30 p.m.
