MANILA — The dream All-Filipino Finals in billiards men’s 9-ball doubles for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games will not push through.
Philippines 1 with Carlo Biado and Johann Chua got pummeled by Singapore in the semifinals Wednesday at Manila Hotel Tent, losing 3-9.
The pair of Lian Han Toh and Aloysius Yap raced to a 7-0 lead against the Pinoys and never let go. Biado and Chua managed to get three racks but it wasn’t enough to stop the Singaporean’s march to the gold medal game.
In the other 9-ball doubles semifinal, Philippines 2 with Warren Kiamco and Jeffrey Ignacio lost a close one to Myanmar, 8-9.
It was a close match throughout but Kiamco and Ignacio managed to take an 8-7 lead late.
However, Aung Moe Thu and Kyaw Myint Phone rallied to win the next two racks for Myanmar.
