The Philippines settled for a third-place finish in the duathlon mixed relay
SUBIC - Monica Torres, Emmanuel Comendador, and the rest of Team Philippines left it all on the track, Thursday at the Boardwalk here, but ultimately fell behind to Thailand and Singapore in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games duathlon mixed relay.
Torres, who grabbed gold in women's duathlon last Monday, began the run-bike-run relay before tagging in Effraim Inigo, Mary Pauline Fornea, and Comendador.
Comendador, at that point, was lagging behind by about two and a half minutes, but still went all-out. "Kahit huli na, pinilit ko sarili kong habulin," he said.
In the end, the Filipinos wound up with a time of 1:30:95, more than three minutes behind gold medalist Thailand at 1:27:68.
Seizing silver, meanwhile, is Singapore which finished at 1:29:36.
