SEA Games 2019: Pinoy jins grab three more golds in Taekwondo

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Following Saturday’s medal haul in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Taekwondo competitions, the Filipino jins hauled in seven more, including three more gold medals, Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex here.
25-year old Rodolfo Reyes Jr. snagged his second gold medal of the 2019 SEA Games, taking gold in the Men’s Individual Recognized Poomsae event.
Pauline Lopez meanwhile, captured her first gold medal in her SEA Games career, defeating Cambodia’s Alizq Chhoeung, 12-4 in the Women’s Under-57 KG Finals.
Dave Cea and Samuel Thomas Harper Morris also earned gold medals in the Men’s Under-74 KG and Men’s Under-80 KG events, respectively. Cea outpointed Thailand’s Nutthawee Klompong, 10-5 in the final, while Morris dominated Malaysian Joshua Abdullah, 30-8 in his gold medal match.
Team Philippines also collected four silver medals, courtesy of Arven Alcantara in the Men’s Under-68 KG category, Kristopher Robert Uy in the Men’s Over-87 KG category, Laila Dello in the Women’s Under-67 KG category, and Kirstie Alora in the Women’s Over-73 KG category.
All in all, the Pinoy jins have accounted for 15 of the Philippines’ 284 total medals won.
