MANILA - The Philippine Women's National Football Team were less than a half of football away from ending the country's SEA Games football medal drought, but a two-goal swing from Myanmar in a span of three minutes dashed the Filipinas' hopes for a bronze medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Women's Football Tournament, Sunday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium here.
The Pinay squad, who were looking to get a podium finish for the first time since 1985, appeared to be well on their way to doing so after Quinley Quezada put the Filipinas ahead, 1-0 in the 58th minute.
Unfortunately for the home side, the visitors found the back of the net in the 78th minute to pull even, thanks to July Kyaw.
Just two minutes later, Yee Yee Oo scored the go-ahead goal.
It was a heartbreaking end to a stellar campaign from the Filipinas, who finished second in their group to make the Final Four, before bowing to Vietnam in the semis.
