SEA Games 2019: Four Pinoy bets advance to Kickboxing Finals

MANILA - Four the Philippines’ five bets in kickboxing moved one step closer to the gold medal after winning their respective semifinals matches, Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome here.
Filipina mixed martial artist Gina Iniong, member of the famed Filipino MMA stable Team Lakay blanked Vietnamese opponent Thi Nga Lai, 3-0, in the Women’s -55 KG Kick Light category. Iniong, a veteran of the MMA promotion ONE Championship, took all three rounds for the convincing win and a shot at SEA Games gold.
Iniong’s Team Lakay teammates Jerry Olsim was also victorious in his Men’s -69 KG Kick Light semifinals match. Olsim, also a professional mixed martial artist, dominated Indonesia’s Serial Efendi, 3-0, with all three rounds ending in 3-0 scores.
Jomar Balangui was just as dominant in his Men’s -54 KG Low Kick semifinal match against Cambodia’s Chan Khemm 3-0.
The biggest win of the day however came from Renalyn Dacquel, who defeated Indonesian MMA star Priscila Hertati Lumban Gaol via Referee Stoppage in the second round.
The lone casualty for the Philippine Kickboxing Team was Karol Maguide, who fell to Indonesia’s Aprilando Rhumapasal, 0-3.
