SEA Games 2019: Samboy Lim's daughter Jamie captures gold in Karate

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Jamie Christine Lim punched and kicked her way to another gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian games, taking top honors in the Women's +65 KG Kumite Finals, Monday afternoon at the World Trade Center here.
Facing Indonesia's Zefaniya Ceyco Georigia, Lim used a winning combination of aggression, timing, and smarts to get the 2-1 victory in the gold medal match.

"I worked super hard for this, I just started this July, kasi four years nag-stop ako from Karate because I focused on academics," said Jamie. "Sobrang against the odds, kasi yung mga kalaban ko, full-time athletes sila. Nag-full time lang ako five months ago."
"I did my work, I worked hard everyday, no shortcuts, I wanted this so much," Lim added.

Jamie, the daughter of Philippine basketball legend Samboy Lim, graduated Summa Cum Laude in BS Mathematics from the University of the Philippines.
The Philippines also captured bronze medals in the Men's +75 Men's Kumite category courtesy of Sharief Afif, in the - 75 Men's Kumite category courtesy of Ivan Christopher Agustin, and in the Men's Team Kata category, courtesy of Adam Bondoc, Mark Andrew Manantan, and John Enrico Vasquez.
