Making his debut as one of Upfront at UAAP’s hosts last Wednesday, Richard Juan graced the screen as an all-too familiar face having been one of the Pinoy Big Brother: 737 housemates last year. While most of the audience would remember him as the “Charming Chinito ng Parañaque,” this young man actually boasts of a substantial hosting résumé. Juan, 23, used to be a TV host for GMA7 and hosted various events even when he was younger—from mall shows to private affairs to fundraisers.
As for sports? Yes, he does know a thing or two about ‘em.
Or even more.
In high school at Island School all the way in Hong Kong, Juan played for various varsity teams. He managed to juggle being part of the track and field, long distance running, basketball, and football teams—and even captained the football squad once. Sports took the backseat when he entered college at the University of the Philippines Diliman. By then, he has already tried his hand in modeling yet put most of his focus on school—this eventually bore fruit, he graduated Broadcast Communication at the premiere state university with cum laude honors!
Juan considers getting his new hosting stint as one that marries two of his greatest fields of interests: hosting and sports. This, despite feeling “rusty” at the auditions as he hasn’t hosted for a while. Otherwise, he’s “ecstatic” and vows to give his all as he inches his way towards his own talk and travel show.
“I used to watch the games with my friends back when I was in college, and also tweeted about it and stuff. I still try to catch a game or two nowadays,” he says, then counters that his school spirit won’t propel any kind of favoritism!
“I expect myself not to be supporting UP but all the schools in the UAAP. Because, you know, I’m the host now! I should be impartial and unbiased when I make my comments!”
Surely, Juan makes a fun addition to the Upfront at UAAP panel! Check out his Instagram (@richardjuan), if you want to get more familiar with this new guy!
He seems like an outgoing guy.
And no matter what andito ako kasi Ninong rin ako ni Aimi so yeahhh hahaha 😇😇.
Meaning, he's super friendly and fun.
Also, he parties.
Like, he goes to the best parties.
Hosted the pre-event of #BESTofBESTPH2015 yesterday with Rojean and Pao right in front of the Philippine Arena! It was probably the biggest crowd I've ever encountered as a host and thank you everyone for making me feel comfortable easily hehehe 😁😁. Do you see you or your friends? Hahaha. #KPOPSummerSolstice #KPop PS. As a new fanboy, I'm still high from last night's concert hahaha. And please dont mind my messy hair haha. EDIT: I posted my fave video of the crowd on Facebook and Twitter! Check it out there 😁😁😁.
He’s a adventure-seeker.
He loves his dog.
He's got it in juggling school, sports, and... other stuff.
I was gonna write a valedictorian type speech but I then realised this is Instagram, and I'm not valedictorian hahahajk. But seriously though, thank you UP for this incredible adventure. I have learned so much in the last four and a half years - not just academically but also socially. I've been loved, I've been hated, I've been betrayed; it's incredible when I look back how much I've been through and how much I've grown in the last four and a half years. To everyone who have been part of my UP adventure, including the haters and the betrayers, I truly thank you all for everything - without you guys, I would not be at where I am today. I am now ready to take on the real world, as a Cum Laude graduate in Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communication from the College of Mass Communication in the University of the Philippines Diliman. Come on real world, I'm ready for this; you won't knock me down! PS. Okay, I know I lied; this one is really the final final final graduation related picture (for now) hahaha. PS 2. Was so tempted to post this picture since last month but I didn't want to just in case I messed up somehow hahaha.
Always been a dream of mine to lecture in a University like a professor hahahahjk. But on a serious note, what an honour it was to give a talk about the importance of having a global mindset at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines last week! Super duper enjoyed it and thank you for the warm welcome PUP and of course thank you AIESEC for the invite ☺️! #Latepost #ProfessorJuan
Like, a really funny bro!
