There was really something with the DLSU Lady Spikers last Saturday, at a game that ended with a victory over their fierce rivals from Ateneo, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18. Was it that they’re more prepared, more confident, and hungrier to finally shoot the back-to-back champions down while halting their 24-game winning streak?

We have yet to find out altogether, but certainly Coach Ramil de Jesus saw his Taft squad showcase that signature swag he must have first seen coming from the young ladies’ predecessors from earlier seasons, Michele Gumabao and Abi Maraño.

Right after that epic game, we caught up with some jubilant star players, Ara Galang, Majoy Baron, and Mika Reyes, who then revealed to us the “secret” in getting that win. It was a-many, items inside their bags that helped step up their pre-game and then gave them the much-needed boost to finally own that match!

Reyes

“Puro pagkain, eh. May sweet tooth kasi ako, super!”

“This bag has everything. After workout or a game, I always keep myself clean.”

“I have a whole bag of Sanrio bands—pang-ipit ko. I guess signature ko na din for my look. Ha ha!”

Baron

“Pang sugar rush ko yung Gummy Bears. Pero kumakain lang ako pag game lang naman. Childhood favorite ko din kasi.”

Power bank--ayaw ko kasi na naka-off yung phone ko. Ma-phone akong tao. CD-R King lang yan, affordable!”

“Ito yung ‘girl scout kit’ ko. May nail-cutter, shaver, Post-it’s, scissors, markers, lahat na.”

Galang

“I don’t leave my phone. Talagang dala ko sya lagi.”

“Nerds! Mahilig lang talaga ako sa candy.”

“Yung ID ko dala ko lagi, in case kailangan. Reminder sya na I play for my school.”
