While the rest of the Philippines got antsy over who to vote for a day before the elections, the national taekwondo team coach Japoy Lizardo married fiancée and fellow taekwondo practitioner Janice Lagman last May 8.
At the historic Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City with the view of Taal in the background, the combat arts-inclined couple tied the knot in a garden wedding setup. The theme? In a shade of pink that seems to be flamingo.
The couple held their wedding reception at the same hotel, inviting their closest friends and family members. The wedding also called for a hashtag, which was #JapoyJanicePerfectTime.
Lizardo and Lagman are considered to be among the most influential taekwondo practitioners in the country.
Twenty-nine year-old Lizardo is a living Filipino pride in taekwondo, having bagged various medals from the Asian Games, SEA Games, and Asian Championships. He quit the national team last year following an injury, and is now on top of his former squad as its coach.
Meanwhile, Lagman, 28, is a world poomsae champ and a two-time SEA Games gold medalist in poomsae. She is also the head coach of the UP poomsae varsity team.
In an interview they did together for Sports Digest in February last year, the two revealed it was through taekwondo that they met. They have since been hand in hand in establishing the sport among the youth, even launching a taekwondo program where they also taught.
Talk about #relationshipgoals!
