For your old man whoís into fitness and sports.
Gone are the days when dads used to just guzzle beer while watching basketball. Nowadays, there’s a new breed of dads—while some of them would still be watching ball (of course, #BallIsLife), they’ve since quit on the binge-drinking and would much rather prefer being active. Where to take your sports-minded old man this Father’s Day? Here are some stuff to help you get through the day.
Get a haircut. Get that football player coif you’ve always wanted, and why not do it matchy-matchy with your dad? In particular, pamper up at a sports-themed barbershop like our recos, Sports Barbers at UP Town Center, Razor Sports at Trinoma, and any Titan branch. These have television screens showing NBA and UEFA! (Who knows what Father's Day promos they have today?)
Shop for shoes. It was never just about moms and daughters. Is there any other way to get Papa excited than buying him a new pair of sneaks? Sole Academy, Sneak Peek, and NBA Store in Glorietta are always reliable in terms of bringing in international shoe brands that matter and their latest releases. If you’re escaping basketball and have found yourselves in hiking or running, you may want to check out Merrell, North Face, and Saucony for shoes that are especially made for these hobbies.
Enroll at a gym. It’s 2016, and never has fitness this been big not just as a hobby but also a lifestyle. If you’ve got cash to spare, enroll Dad to first-class gyms contrary to the usually hot, crowded bakal gyms that might be bad to his health. Fitness First Platinum branches in SM Aura and in Greenhills, and the new branches of Anytime Fitness in Maginhawa and UP Town might do it for you with their opening promos!
‘Socialize.’ By that, we mean going out drinking, but sports still in mind. Where to do it? At a sports bar, of course. While NBA Café and Skinny Mike’s are always chlllax hangout spaces for you and your pops, Handle Bar Makati and Howzat Sports Bar can give you a more authentic, testosterone-exploding sports bar feel thanks to its theme and interiors. If you’re into something more luxurious, check out Snaps Sports Bar at Sofitel Philippine Plaza and the Pool Bar and Lounge at the newly launched Novotel Manila Araneta Center. Don’t worry about spending too much—it’s his day anyway, and you would want to make this extra memorable!
Watch future games together. Here’s a bonus: You may want extend the celebration and surprise him with tickets to live games and meet-and-greet events featuring visiting sports superstars. #NCAA92 is just around the corner, and, get this, recently-retired Kobe Bryant is coming here next week as part of his Mamba Mentality Tour!
