It came three weeks later than their original date and around two months following their Shakey's V-League Open Conference win, but their team vacation still proved to be worthwhile for the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors. Destination: Hong Kong.
The first-time V-League champs left Manila last Friday morning and returned home Sunday night. The weekend that was? Full of food trip, shopping, an adventure at Ocean Park, OOTD-taking, and just strolling around the hotel!
“Supposedly we scheduled it around end of August but Myla has her Thesis and others have work so they pushed it back to September,” explains Melissa Gohing, who proved to be the “ninja” that she was known for back in the UAAP with then three-peat achieving Lady Archers.
Gohing could only recall how “matakaw everybody was” in their short but sweet break. There was even a time their appetite worked against them.
“So we went to Jumbo floating restaurant. We were served with shrimps tapos may kasamang bowl of soup. Tapos akala naming, sauce yun. Yun pala it's for washing your hands after you eat the shrimps!”
“Akala namin sawsawan so ginawa siya naming sauce!” she shares with a laugh.
On October 1, Gohing, team captain Michele Gumabao, Open Conference Finals MVP Myla Pablo, American imports Bree Mackie and Andrea Kacsits, and the rest of the Lady Warriors are set to stay on top at the Reinforced Conference. If another victory ensues, the team’s next vacation will bring them to Japan, the country where the Pocari Sweat the brand originated.
“Of course, (we’re excited)! I would love to go back to Japan again. I love Japanese food!”
