What our favorite sports icons do in their free time

Let's take a look at how athletes spend their precious free time when the games are over.
We often see them wearing their gamefaces on and exuding their fierceness and bravery as they battle it out on the court. Indeed they give it their all and in doing so, they spend almost the entire day training, working out, and show their wares in tough competition.
Have ever wondered though how some of our beloved local athletes spend their time off court? Here’s what we found out:
Marami nagtatanong, ano ginagawa ko after training kung rest time ko. Nagbabasa ng libro. Sa pagbabasa ng libro ang dami kong natutunan sa experience ng iba't ibang tao, sa perspective nila sa buhay at nagiging positive din outlook ko sa life by reading their books. Kaya po kayo try niyo pong magbasa ng libro. Dami niyo matutunan. 😉 #ilovebooks #motivation #inspiration #sparetime
Aside from her regular trainings and being hands-on to her first-ever Weightlifting Open Championship that concluded recently, our very own weightlifting fairy is also a bookworm! In one of her snaps, the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist said that during her spare time, she prefers reading books as this gives her an insight on other people’s experiences and perspectives, which enhances her positive outlook in life. She advised her followers to make it a habit, too.
Jean Marc Pingris
We’ve known him as one of the top big men in the Philippine Basketball Association for his relentless performance as a power forward for the Star Hotshots. But off-the-court, the Pinoy Sakuragi is a doting dad to his wife Danica and their two kids, making sure that he’s there in their every milestone and even cooks sumptuous meals for them. Known for being jolly and a natural prankster, even their house helpers didn’t escape from his “Pingtrips”.
He may be Barangay Ginebra’s small but terrible point guard, but LA has a big heart, especially for those people in need. As one of the representatives of actress Shaina Magdayao’s Smile Cares Foundation who merged with Dingdong Dantes’ Yes Pinoy Foundation for a charitable activity based in Surigao del Norte, he’s among who spearheads the project aiming to raise funds for the construction of an eco-camp that would provide agricultural training for out-of-school youth.
Dubbed as the “Spiderman” of the local professional basketball league for his breathtaking dunks and perhaps even for his lean yet strong physique, Arwind is also an amusing superhero for his family and friends. Glancing through his IG account, majority of his posts are all-smiles and wacky groufies with his three kids and wife. Enjoy watching them confidently dance along one of Osaka’s busy streets and even with the enthusiastic crew of Universal Studios Japan.
The former King Archer of De La Salle University’s men’s basketball team gets ladies (and girls by heart) smitten with his irresistible looks and charm. But sorry, Jeron is already taken and the lucky woman who won his heart? Former UAAP courtside reporter and model Jeanine Tsoi. Their IG feeds are filled with photos of their trips together in and out of the country. We’re jealous!
With her slender physique, many of us surely wonders if the middle hitter of the Petron Tri-Active Spikers still eats or what her diet could be. FYI, she still eats and actually a foodie as we see a lot of images of the sumptuous food she eats that make her followers drool everytime we visit her IG. account. How to be you, Mika?
Aside from being one of the most impactful volleybelles in the Premier Volleyball League, the open spiker of the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors is also a doting and hands-on wife to husband director/politician Lino Cayetano and mom to their two adorable kids Ino and Renee. Whenever there are no games nor practices, Fille spends her time with her family and date nights with Direk Lino or with her friends. The #Mamathlete proves that she’s not only great on the court, but at home as well.
Despite having a lovestory that can be compared to the classic tale “Romeo and Juliet”, Marck Espejo of Ateneo de Manila University and DLSU’s Kianna Dy romance still bloomed and get everything slow and sweet whenever they spend the time together off the court.
