NCAA stars and their celebrity 'lookalikes'
ABS-CBN Sports on Sep 22, 2017 09:15 PM
One thing's for sure, you'll never look at any of these stars the same way again.
To end another exciting week of NCAA season 93 men's basketball, we round up the best (funniest) answers to our NCAA broadcast question of the week, which was: "Sinong NCAA player ang may ka-lookalike na celebrity?"
We asked, and you delivered.
Some answers were surprising, some were spot-on, others were just plain weird, but all of them were made in lighthearted fun, which is what the NCAA is truly about.
Jeramer Cabanag (San Beda) + Joem Bascon
Here we have San Beda guard Jeramer Cabanag and his "twin", Kapamilya star Joem Bascon.
The jawlines are somehow there, and the smirk on their lips, especially in these perfectly-selected photos show a uncanny resemblance. But really topping off their twin-like appearance is their hair.
Javee Mocon (San Beda) + Aljur Abrenica
Another Red Lion, and another Kapamilya star.
Similar trendy hairstlye is also the culprit here, making their seemingly alike facial features, their noses, the shape of their ears, look one and the same.
Ervin Grospe (JRU) + Nash Aguas
Here we have JRU Heavy Bombers' crafty forward paired up with a Kapamilya staple, Nash Aguas.
Their facial features are uncannily similar, and even without the same haircut, you won't be blamed if you'll take a second glance at these long-lost twins.
Jethro Mendoza (EAC) + McCoy De Leon
Jethro Mendoza has been slowly making a name for himself as one of the EAC Generals' sparkplugs off the bench.
His celebrity twin McCoy De Leon however, needs no introduction, and to be mentioned in the same breath as the other half of one of the most sought-after loveteams in the country is an accomplishment in itself.
Rey Nambatac (Letran) + Terrence Romeo
Here's an athlete-on-athlete comparison.
Finding a spot-on celebrity lookalike for our NCAA athletes is difficult, but to find another basketball star that looks like his fellow cager is nearly unheard of.
At least not after this hawkeyed fan noticed an erie similarity beteen Letran's main man Rey Nambatac and former FEU Tamaraw and now Globalport Batangpier spitfire guard Terrence Romeo.
They've both sported man-buns, and for us, that was when they looked most like twins.
AC Soberano (San Beda) + Manny Pacquiao
AC Soberano is known to be one of the most deadly long range shooters in the collegiate ranks.
The one-time NCAA three-point king however, shares more similarities with Manny Pacquaio than their stroke from downtown.
As pointed out by the broadcast graphic above, they somehow share a likeness that we can't quite put a finger on, but it's undoubtedly there.
As Tony Montana once said, "The eyes, Chico. They never lie."
Even our S+A analysts weren't spared from our viewer-detectives.
Here's Anton Roxas, who, according to NCAA courtside reporter Sarah Carlos shares a striking resemblance to MMA fighter Mark "Mugen" Striegl.
Meanwhile, the "Brains Behind the Bench" Ceej Tantengco was said to have a twin in South Korean star Park Shin Hye.
Perhaps the most polarizing side-by-side comparison is NCAA commentator Martin Javier's resemblance with Hollywood star Andrew Garfield.
What do you think of the viewer's choices? Do you agree? Which NCAA stars do you think have other celebrity lookalikes?
