Michele Gumabao's Cinderella run has ended with her being crowned as Miss Philippines-Globe Monday morning during the coronation at the Big Dome.
Coming into the contest, the 5'9" volleybelle had no prior experience in beauty pageants, but has been vocal about being eager to prove doubters wrong.
Indeed, Gumabao has done just that, claiming one of the six titles in the Philippines' most prestigious beauty pageant.
Aside from the crown, the 25-year-old also won the special Miss Cream Silk award.
Gumabao made a lot of buzz in the weeks leading up to the coronation night, all while making an important statement about athletes being multi-dimensional individuals.
As Binibini #19, Gumabao impressed audiences with her straightforward manner of answering interviews and free-spirited personality that she has possessed since her playing days with De La Salle University in the UAAP.
The volleybelle out of Quezon City is currently an assistant coach for the all-female tactical crew of Adamson University's women's volleyball team, and she is currently signed to the Creamline Cool Smashers in the Premier Volleyball League.
Gumabao's winning tradition is well-documented. As a part of the UAAP powerhouse DLSU Lady Spikers and the PVL Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors, she has won numerous titles, and with her win in the Bb. Pilipinas, Gumabao is primed for even bigger things.
