 “I don’t have time.”

“I don’t have the energy.”

“It’s boring.”

‘Pag gusto, maraming paraan. ‘Pag ayaw, maraming dahilan. Although the world is now more aware of the importance of working out, we still find excuses not to exercise. Here, we have several suggestions on how you could get rid of the excuses, break the barriers, and be unstoppable in your journey to a healthier and fitter you.

Barrier #1: “I don’t have time.”

Break this barrier:

If you don’t have time to go to a fitness facility, do your workouts at home. You don’t necessarily need machines to stay fit—just think that YOU are the machine!

There’s gotta be a few openings in your sched, even brief 30-minute ones. Identify these and slot in your physical activities during those periods. Or instead of braving the rush-hour traffic after work, choose to while away your time in the nearest gym!

Integrate physical activities into your routine. Say, instead of using the elevator to your office, take the stairs. Instead of riding public transpo, walk. Be creative!

Barrier #2: “I don’t have the energy.”

Break this barrier:

Here’s a surprise for some: After working out, instead of feeling tired, you’ll feel more energetic. Try it and see for yourself!

Do a workout when you are most energetic. For some people, this can be during early mornings. Some prefer to do it after work at night. Others have the most energy during weekends, after being able to catch up on Zs. Whenever this is for you, just do it!

Barrier #3: “It’s boring.”

Break this barrier:

Find the physical activity that you enjoy the most. There’s running, boxing, pilates, and even parkour among others—you won’t run out of options! You’ll probably have more fun if you mix it up from time to time.

Work out with friends. Schedule a class or activity that all of you can enjoy together.

Prepare a playlist of your favorite, high-energy songs before working out. By listening to your most-loved tunes, you won’t even notice that an hour has already gone by after you began exercising.

Barrier #4: “I don’t want to get hurt.”

Break this barrier:

Before you get really physical, warm up! Jumping jacks, lunges, or squats should do the trick.

Tailor your workouts according to your age, health, and fitness level. If you feel an exercise is too much for you, opt for activities that put your body at minimal risk or strain.

Barrier #5: “I don’t want to contract infections at the gym.”

Break this barrier:

Breaking a sweat is always good. But sweat, along with heat and dirt, could also make you prone to fungi. And that’s never good—fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, or ringworms could put your fitness journey to a halt. This is why you’ll want antifungal medication like Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) Cream in your gym bag. Focus on your workout and not on the itchiness by applying Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) Cream on the infected area once a day. It'll quickly penetrate the skin to kill the root cause of the infection, clearing unsanitary barriers and irritating hindrances once and for all. With Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) Cream, #NoFungiNoBarriers!

These barriers can indeed hinder you in your fitness journey. But the moment you break all of these down is the moment you become unstoppable.
