The Manila Mavericks men's doubles tandem of Treat Huey and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga continued their success as the IPTL moved to Singapore.
The Manila Mavericks defeated the hometown Singapore Slammers, 29 - 21, at the start of the Singapore leg in the 2014 International Premier Tennis League.
Australian Mark Philippoussis kicked off the Mavericks' winning run after defeating Andre Agassi, 6-3, in the legends match.
In the men's doubles match that followed, the tandem of Filipino-American Treat Huey and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga continued their mastery over the duo of Lleyton Hewitt and Tomas Berdych, 6-4.
Tsonga would then edge out Berdych, 6-5, before the mixed doubles pair of Daniel Nestor and Kirsten Flipkens upended Nick Kyrgios and Serena Williams, 6-3.
Williams would avoid a shutout for the Slammers as she nipped Flipkens in the women's singles, 6-5.
With their second straight victory, the Mavericks now moved into second place behind the undefeated Micromax Indian Aces.
Earlier in the day, the Aces won their fourth straight match after thrashing the UAE Royals, 30-11.
