Rafael Nadal's post-game interview is interesting as well as funny.
Rafael Nadal gave Filipino fans a night to remember in his first appearance in the International Premier Tennis League for the Micromax Indian Aces Monday night.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion opened his stint with a 6-3 win with partner Ivan Dodig against the Royals’ Daniel Nestor and Tomas Berdych in the men’s doubles match. The former world no. 1 and current no. 5 ranked netter made it two in a row against Berdych after an exciting come-from-behind 6-5 (7-3) tiebreak shootout victory.
The Aces defeated the Royals, 30-18, for a 3-0 win-loss record.
Nadal, who was replaced by the Roger Federer in the Aces’ lineup after suffering an appendicitis, admitted that he is yet to get use to the IPTL’s game format especially the 20-second service shot clock.
Known for taking his time before slamming his heavy services, the Spaniard said that the IPTL game rules make the tournament exciting but he would rather see it implemented just in the league.
“In my opinion it will not be great to have that during the whole season in the professional tournament but here is something so special. The format like this makes the matches so interesting,” he said.
Nadal was also vocal on his appreciation of the love he received from Filipino fans and is looking forward to see more of the country.
Answering the question about his well-known rivalry with Federer and Serbian Novak Djokovic, Nadal suddenly stopped midway in his statement as a phone in front of him used as a recorder rang.

Nadal added that he is working hard to return to his winning form and is hoping to have a better season next year.
