It is official, they will let the players play.
The UAAP residency rule is no more after Republic Act 10676 was signed yesterday by President Noynoy Aquino, Senator Pia Cayetano, the author of the new act of Congress, confirmed on her Twitter account.
Happy to announce that UAAP residency issue will now be put to rest with the passage of RA 10676 signed by the Pres yest. #StudentAthletes— pia cayetano (@piacayetano) August 27, 2015
The UAAP residency rule has drawn a lot of controversies over the past few years as high-profile recruits have to sit out for two years if they transfer from one member school to another.
Jerie Pingoy of Ateneo is the most famous case recently.
It is still unclear though if Hubert Cani, another Ateneo recruit, will suit up for the Blue Eagles in Season 78 set to unfold on September 5.
