UE’s Javier earns one-game suspension
HANDICAP. UE will have a tougher time in trying to get its first win as team captain Chris Javier will have to serve a one-game suspension.

University of the East will be without their team captain when they take on defending champion National University on Saturday.

Chris Javier will have to sit out one game after the league office upheld the disqualifying foul he incurred late in the Red Warriors’ season-opener last Saturday. During a rebounding sequence, Javier hit University of the Philippines’ Jerson Prado with an elbow.

UAAP commissioner Atty. Rebo Saguisag confirmed the development to ABS-CBN Sports. As per league rules, a disqualifying foul merits the offending player an automatic suspension in his team’s succeeding game.

UE’s suspended team captain said he is mad with himself for getting suspended. “I feel frustrated about it. In the heat of the moment during the game, I just reacted,” he told ABS-CBN Sports.
