After the first weekend of the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament, both Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson University found themselves grounded.

The Blue Eagles and the Falcons look to finally take flight and notch the first mark in the win column on Saturday at the MOA Arena.

The Battle of the Birds begins at 2:00 PM and will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.

Adamson was actually more competitive than Ateneo in their first outing as they stuck close before their opponents utilized their experience to break away. The young Falcons will once again count on young juniors Dawn Ochea and Joseph Nalos while also hoping for the breakout of highly-touted rookie Jaydee Tungcab.

Facing them will be an equally young Ateneo side that got clobbered in their first outing. None from Jerie Pingoy, Hubert Cani, and Matt Nieto turned in a memorable first UAAP game and Kiefer Ravena was the lone bright spot for the team.

Still, if experience will be the difference, the Eagles can rely on the reigning MVP and sharpshooter Von Pessumal to show the way. “We need to be better than what we showed if we are to accomplish our goals,” coach Bo Perasol said.
