National University remained undefeated in the UAAP Season 78 women's basketball tournament.

WHILE the men’s team struggling on its title-retention bid, the women’s squad of National University is doing just fine.

The back-to-back seeking Lady Bulldogs routed Ateneo, 70-36 for their second straight victory Sunday in the UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym.

NU is currently tied with University of Santo Tomas and Adamson University in first place in the young season.

The Tigresses shrugged off a poor first half to beat University of the Philippines, 58-52, while the Lady Falcons nipped Far Eastern University in overtime, 69-64.

Reigning MVP Afril Bernardino shot 17 points while her fellow national squad teammate Shelley Gupilan tossed in 14 markers as the Lady Bulldogs were dominating right from the get go.

Candice Magdaluyo had 12 points and five assists, while Maica Cortes and Shanda Anies added 10 markers for UST, which recovered from a dismal four-point second quarter output to prevail.

Joy Cochico had a near triple-double output of 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists while Myra Osano chipped in 15 markers for Adamson.

In the other match, Snow Peñaranda had 15 points and 13 rebounds as last year’s runner-up De La Salle tripped a vastly-improvedf University of the East side, 63-59, to tie its victims at 1-1.

The Lady Eagles, the Lady Maroons and the Lady Tamaraws dropped to 0-2.
