SEMIFINAL REMATCH. NU currently holds a two-game winning streak against Ateneo dating back to last season.
Games on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum
2:00 PM – UE vs Adamson
4:00 PM – NU vs Ateneo
They are now heading into their third game in the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Season and defending champion National University remains one of two teams yet to etch a mark on the win column.
Things don’t get any easier for the Bulldogs as they next face on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum an Ateneo de Manila University side fresh off a morale-boosting first victory.
The rematch of last season’s semifinals is set at 4:00 PM and it will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
Kiefer Ravena was his usual superb self in the Eagles’ 84-60 domination of Adamson University, producing a second 20-point game in a row. However, the bigger story was the highly-hyped Katipunan kids finally introducing themselves.
Aaron Black, Matt Nieto, and Jerie Pingoy had solid outings to provide their King Eagle with much-needed backup. “It was very important that we all felt better about ourselves,” coach Bo Perasol said.
NU has nothing good to feel about thus far in the tournament as both of their assignments saw them successfully rallying from sluggish starts only to fall short in the end. Gelo Alolino has kept his end of the bargain by averaging 19.5 points, but it has been Alfred Aroga’s contributions on both ends that is yet to be felt.
Still, coach Eric Altamirano re-assured the Bulldog faithful that this is all part of the process for a young team. “Relatively, we are a young team and this is part of our growing pains. We just have to continue finding our identity this season,” he said.
