RED RISING. UE will be shooting for a winning streak while Adamson will be shooting just to get into the win column.

Games on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum

2:00 PM – UE vs Adamson

4:00 PM – NU vs Ateneo

Following an uninspired outing to open their campaign in the 78th Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament, University of the East rebounded mightily – against the defending champions no less – and claimed their first win.

The Red Warriors eye to build on their momentum all the way to a winning streak at the expense of the still winless Adamson University Soaring Falcons on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The battle between red and blue tips-off at 2:00 PM and will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.

UE rallied around the absence of suspended team captain Chris Javier and turned in a team effort in their 76-71 upending of National University. Fronting the attack was rookie Edson Batiller who posted a career-high 23 points in only his second game in the UAAP.

With a matchup against a team hungry to get on the win column, however, head coach Derrick Pumaren said he wants to see more from his old-timers. “It’s a very dangerous game and I told my veterans I will need them again,” he said.

Indeed, Adamson competed with University of Sto. Tomas and Ateneo de Manila University early before getting left behind by second half runs. With Joseph Nalos keeping steady at point and touted rookie Jaydee Tungcab showing signs of improvement, the Falcons are hopeful in finally taking home a W in their third try.
