UST, NU continue to share lead in UAAP girls volleyball
Adamson blemished the erstwhile pristine record of league-leading National University in the 78th UAAP girl's volleyball tournament.

The University of Sto. Tomas took a share of the lead as the defending champion and erstwhile undefeated National University absorbed a shocking upset over the weekend in the 78th UAAP girl’s volleyball tournament at the Adamson Gym.

The Junior Tigresses whipped up back-to-back victories against the De La Salle-Zobel Junior Lady Spikers, 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 and the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors, 25-16, 25-22, 25-11, to climb back on top of the standings.

But it was the upset win of the Adamson Baby Lady Falcons against the Lady Bullpups that highlighted the third playdate as it put the four-game winning run of NU to a screeching halt.

Behind by two sets in a match the Lady Bullpups were expected to dominate, the spunky Baby Lady Falcons regrouped and hacked a rousing 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-11 come-from-behind win Saturday.

NU recovered the day after, venting its ire on a hapless Far Eastern University Baby Lady Tamaraws, 25-14, 25-11, 25-8 to keep its hold in the top spot beside UST with 5-1 win-loss slate.

Adamson failed to maintain the momentum of the morale-boosting victory over NU as it fell victim to DLS-Z, 25-15, 25-19, 20, for a 2-4 record tied with FEU.

The Junior Lady Spikers sit on solo third spot with a 4-2 card ahead of UE (3-3), which defeated winless University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Lady Maroons, 25-17, 25-10, 25-12.

UPIS suffered its sixth loss in as many outings.

Meanwhile, the NU Bullpups continue to lord the boy’s division after six games.

The Bullpups swept the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eaglets, 25-23, 25-14, 25-14, last Saturday before edging UST, 19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-14, 15-8 Sunday for a perfect 6-0 mark.

The defending champion UE Junior Warriors notched its fifth win in six outings at second spot after taking down the Tiger Cubs, 25-22, 25-21, 25-21, and the FEU Baby Tams, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20, while the DLS-Z Junior Archers barged into the win column in a 25-16, 25-18, 25-23 walloping of UPIS.

Ateneo rebounded from a loss with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-10 mastery of DLS-Z for a 2-4 card.

UST is in solo fourth spot with a 3-3 record, DSL-Z has a 1-5 slate while UP is in the cellar with a 0-6 card.
