The NU Lady Bulldogs have now won 22 straight games dating back to UAAP Season 77.

Defending champion National University routed University of the Philippines, 80-44, to move closer in completing a first round sweep of the UAAP Season 77 women’s basketball at the Blue Eagle Gym on Sunday.

Gemma Miranda and reigning MVP Afril Bernardino combined for 25 points as the Lady Bulldogs cruised to their sixth straight victory and are 22-0 since last season.

In other matches, University of the East (3-3) continued its giant-killing ways by beating University of Santo Tomas (4-2), 75-65, in overtime, De La Salle (5-1) downed Adamson University (3-3), 75-57, to stay in second place, while Ateneo (2-4) nipped Far Eastern University (1-5), 48-46.

The league’s surprise package, the Lady Warriors held the Tigresses to a single point in the extra session to get back on the winning track.

Eunique Chan had 21 points and 13 rebounds, Ruthlaine Tacula added 17 points and six boards while Chery Ano-os had 13 points for UE.

Maica Cortes had 12 points and 11 rebounds for UST.
