Sweet revenge --- National University is on the right track of its title-retention bid after putting down first round tormentor Adamson.
Defending champion National University exacted revenge on its first round tormentor while University of Sto. Tomas collected another win as the two squads kept a share of the top spot in the 78th UAAP girls volleyball tournament Tuesday.
The Junior Lady Bulldogs tamed the spunky Baby Lady Falcons, 25-23, 16-25, 25-13, 25-14, to silence the Adamson crowd that trooped their gym at San Marcelino.
On the other hand, the Junior Tigresses tripped the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors, 25-21, 16-25, 25-13, 25-14, to tie NU with 7-1 win-loss record.
Brimming with confidence after a 5-set upset win in their first meeting, the Baby Lady Falcons snatched the second frame against the taller Junior Lady Bullpups to even the match after NU started hot.
But the Junior Lady Bullpups regrouped and made sure that there will be no more surprise for Adamson this time, pulling away early in the next two sets to secure the victory.
UE slid to 4-5 card while Adamson has a 3-6 mark.
Meanwhile, the Bullpups continue to lord the boys division with their eighth straight win in as many outing to stay atop the standings.
NU blasted the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eaglets, 25-10, 22-25, 25-8, 25-9, to remain at solo lead.
The 11-time defending champion UE Junior Warriors are lurking behind at 7-1, caging the UST Tiger Cubs, 26-24, 25-20, 25-15.
De La Salle-Zobel bagged its second win in nine outings at the expense of the woeful UPIS Junior Maroons, 25-18, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21.
UST and Ateneo are tied at fourth to fifth place with 4-5 slates while UPIS is yet to win a game after nine assignments.
