#UAAPCDC2015: DLSU Animo Squad targets must-watch routine
LONG TIME, NO SEE. Will the DLSU Animo Squad be able to get back to the top three spot?

Historically, the De La Salle Green Archers have proven themselves as a powerhouse for basketball and volleyball.

But in 2013, DLSU went on to contend with University of the Philippines and National University at the annual UAAP Cheerdance competition. It was a year that gave the Animo Squad a spot at the top three - their sixth podium finish in 19 Cheerdance competitions.

Last year, the Green and White squad landed back down to the cellars at sixth place, much to everyone’s disappointment. But for 2015, the team promises both fans and the entire La Sallian community that it will be an entirely different scenario.

For head coach Ruffa Rosario, it is about the learning experience from the past year’s competition. “Honestly, I’ve learned from my mistakes last year. I really know that merong mali sa ginawa namin. So ngayon, inaral kong maigi and this year, binawi ko naman,” she said.

The Animo Squad has shown continuous progress throughout the years. Having dramatically improved with both their stunts and dance sequences, the team is looking to contend with the competition’s usual champions through a clean and perfectly executed routine.

“People here have the strength for it, but then, minsan, yung delivery, nagkukulang,” said team captain Jet Leonardo Arceo III. “Mas kailangan talaga namin i-polish yung execution para mas maganda at mas malinis.”

Throughout the competition’s history which began in 1994, the best finish the DLSU Animo Squad has earned is a second-place finish. Like every year, they have their sights set on the top spot, but for Season 78, the team has vowed that De La Salle is still one of the teams to look out for.

“Papakita parin namin na you will still wait for La Salle,” coach Ruffa promises. “You must watch La Salle this year.”

The 2015 UAAP Cheerdance Competition will take place on Saturday at the MOA Arena. All of the participants’ talents will be on full display LIVE starting at 2:00 PM only on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as sports.abs-cbn.com.
