Fans endured long queues under the scorching sun just to buy tickets for the UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
UAAP Cheerdance tickets selling like hotcakes is an understatement.
It took fans an awful lot of patience to endure long queues just to buy passes to watch one of the most anticipated competitions in the collegiate calendar.
Fans camped out outside the Mall of Asia Arena as early as Friday night.
"Kagabi pa lang po nakapila na kami and may mga 100-plus nang tao na nakapila," said NU student Monica Ybanez, one of the fortunate few that was able to obtain tickets before it ran out.
"Nag-start silang magbenta ng mga 11:00 a.m. kanina," said Ybanez, who with eight of her colleagues bought their Standing Room Only Lower Box tickets at P300 each.
Some fans were able to buy their tickets when it first went on sale last Thursday.
"Nakabili kami last Thursday sa SM Tickets. Before opening ng Mega Mall, mga 8:00 a.m. nakapila na kami sa labas. Mahaba yung pila and nu’ng pagka-open talagang takbuhan sa bilihan," said Drew Casino, a University of Sto. Tomas fan who has been following the competition for a decade.
Scalpers outside the venue were making a lot more with their sales. And fans were willing to buy tickets at outrageous prices.
A Lower Box ticket from scalpers is being sold at P1,500 while a General Ad ticket is worth P600 from its original selling price of P75.
The Cheerdance competition will start at 2:00 p.m. and aired LIVE at ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 with livestreaming on sports.abs-cbn.com.
