GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN. FEU and NU meet for the first time since last year's epic Finals.
Games on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum
2:00 PM – UE vs UST
4:00 PM – NU-FEU
Last season, National University came back from losing Game 1 of the Finals to come away with the championship. Now in the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament, Far Eastern University has displayed just how badly they want to return to the Finals and erase the bitter taste from their mouth.
Both armed winning streaks, the Bulldogs and the Tamaraws are set to face off against each other on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Last year’s finalists meet again at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
FEU has not lost in its last four outings as they have gone on an offensive tear. Mac Belo and Mike Tolomia are no longer the only consistently effective weapons for the Morayta-based squad and their depth has only made them all the much more formidable.
However, coach Nash Racela has said that the Tamaraws have to work on being “consistently inconsistent” after they allowed then-winless Adamson University to nearly pull off an upset against them.
Consistency is what NU has found as they have won three in a row coming from a 0-3 start. The defense that won them a title last season ago looks to be back just as big man Alfred Aroga looks to be at full health.
Still, the offense remains a problem with the Bulldogs heavily-reliant on Gelo Alolino and the other guys need to show up if they are to prove they can go toe-to-toe with their foes’ long bench.
