NU, UST set up girls volleyball finals trilogy
Part 3 --- Defending champion National University and archrival University of Sto. Tomas meet for the third straight year to dispute the girls volleyball crown.

For the third straight season, National University and University of Santo Tomas will face off for the UAAP girls volleyball championship after beating their respective Final Four foes Tuesday at the Adamson Gym.

The top seeded Bulldogs bested No. 4 University of the East, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19, while the second-ranked Tigresses survived a gallant La Salle-Zobel side, 25-22, 25-23, 28-26.

The champions of the last two Finals series, NU and UST open their Season 78 best-of-three showdown at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Reigning MVP Faith Nisperos took charge for the Bullpups with her impressive attacks at the net which the Junior Warriors could not answer.

The Tigresses had a hard time in repulsing the Junior Lady Spikers, as Eya Laure bailed her team out with key kills in the second frame, while Rose Virtusio nailed back-to-back service aces in the third set to close out the match.

In the boys division, UST ousted last season's runner-up Ateneo, 25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 25-22, to clinch the last semifinals berth.

The Tiger Cubs will take on No. 3 Far Eastern University-Diliman in the first step-ladder semis match tomorrow at 9 a.m., with the winner facing defending champion and twice-to-beat UE in the second step-ladder.

NU advanced to the title round with a thrice-to-beat advantage after completing a 12-game sweep of eliminations.
