REVENGE OR REPEAT? Getting back at NU will move UST into a share of the top of the leaderboard with FEU.
Games on Saturday at the MOA Arena
2:00 PM – Ateneo vs Adamson
4:00 PM – UST vs NU
Thus far in the 78th Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament, only two teams have stood out as consistent contenders – one of them is University of Sto. Tomas and the other isn’t defending champion National University.
On Saturday at the MOA Arena, the Growling Tigers will be out to keep proving their contention, but standing in their way will be the Bulldogs who will be out to prove they still have the heart of a champion.
UST guns for a share of first while NU aims to get back to winning at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
The Tigers have not lost in the last five games with Ed Daquioag and Kevin Ferrer already in peak form. Even better news for Espana is that they also have guys like Louie Vigil and Mario Bonleon who have capably contributed in their 8-1 record.
The only problem for Espana is that they will be facing the only squad that has defeated them. The Bulldogs won their first meeting, 55-54, thanks to Alfred Aroga’s Michael Jordan-esque jumpshot of a game-winner.
Still, Aroga’s offense, just like NU’s as a whole, comes and goes and coach Eric Altamirano is yet to find a combination that works for them on both ends. At 3-5, Altamirano’s wards know they already need to start a push for the playoffs lest they give away their crown that easily.
