8:30 a.m. - ADMU vs UST (Men Finals, Game 1)

Due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Lando, the UAAP late Saturday cancelled its men’s and women’s beach volleyball semifinals and Finals matches scheduled Monday.

All games were rescheduled on Wednesday morning at the MOA Sands By The Bay.

The Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles pair of Alyssa Valdez and Bea Tan are set to go up against De La Salle’s Cyd Demecillo and Kim Fajardo in the women’s semifinals rubbermatch starting at 8:00 a.m.

The winner will face the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws tandem of Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza in the best-of-three finals after the men’s series opener between Ateneo and University of Sto. Tomas scheduled at 8:30 a.m.

Valdez and Tan forced a sudden death against the twice-to-beat armed Lady Spikers, 21-16, 24-22, Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Tigers dethroned National University after beating the reigning three-time champions twice in the rain-delayed step-ladder semifinals to force a Finals duel with thrice-to-beat Ateneo.

Kris Roy Guzman and Anthony Arbasto of UST turned back the Bulldogs’ Madzlan Gampong and Bryan Bagunas, 21-14, 17-21, 15-11, in the first encounter followed by a 19-21, 22-20, 15-11 win in the second match late Saturday.

UST prevailed over FEU, 21-13, 17-21, 15-13, in the first step-ladder duel.

The Blue Eagles’ Marck Espejo and Ysay Marasigan swept the seven-game eliminations for an outright finals berth with the championship incentive.
