4:00 PM – Ateneo vs UST

This deep in the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament, University of Sto. Tomas’ signature victory still has to be their merciless comeback at the expense of Ateneo de Manila University back in the first round.

Then, the Growling Tigers outscored the Blue Eagles, 32-6, in the last 12 minutes and eight seconds in what proved to be the front end of the six-game winning streak they are currently on.

Nonetheless, UST hopes there would be no need for such mighty heroics when they take on Ateneo once more on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tigers aim to earn a playoff spot while the Eagles aim to get a win run going at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on

The Espana-based squad is a win away from clinching the Final Four berth thanks to the outstanding play of the core of Kevin Ferrer, Ed Daquioag, and Karim Abdul as well as timely contributions from names such as Marvin Lee and Louie Vigil. Free from any nagging injuries, the Tigers have looked as focused and determined as ever to keep contending for a championship.

The kids from Katipunan will try to match their opponents’ level of focus and determination even after their teammate found himself in the middle of a controversy. Team captain and reigning MVP Kiefer Ravena will yet again have to work double time on the floor and inside the huddles to finally gear the Eagles towards a playoff push.

In their first round meeting, UST came from behind for a 68-58 triumph over Ateneo.
