Ateneo attempts to put defending champ NU on the brink
MARKING YOUR TERRITORY. Another loss would put NU's crown in grave danger while another win would move Ateneo closer to the Final Four.

Games on Sunday at the MOA Arena

2:00 PM – Ateneo vs NU

4:00 PM – UP vs UST

Facing a rookie-laden squad without its top-scorer, defending champion National University was given its biggest scare in the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament and needed heroics from unsung J-Jay Alejandro to pull through.

On Sunday at the MOA Arena, heat is turned up even more on the Bulldogs’ title defense when they meet an Ateneo de Manila University side just about rounding into form.

The matchup between the defending champions and the Blue Eagles of the reigning MVP tips off at 2:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.

Following a loss to open the second round, the Eagles have rang off back-to-back wins to grab solo third at 6-4. More than Kiefer Ravena regaining his shooting stroke, the more encouraging signs for Katipunan come from the other guys who have finally come to reinforce the reigning MVP.

The defending champions also got a much-welcome boost for its sagging offense in the form of Alejandro who finished off their fourth win in 10 tries. NU is hoping that the third-year guard along with some other names continue emerging to prop up Gelo Alolino, Alfred Aroga, and their still strong defense.

Back in the first round, Ateneo prevailed over NU in a thrilling double-overtime battle, 74-70.
