REBOUND. Both coming off losses, UST and UP are both hungry for a win to jumpstart momentum for their playoff push.
Games on Sunday at the MOA Arena
2:00 PM – Ateneo vs NU
4:00 PM – UP vs UST
When the University of Sto. Tomas and the University of the Philippines met early in the 78th Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament, it was for the top spot and an immaculate slate.
Things are much different now in the second round on Sunday at the MOA Arena as the Growling Tigers seek a bounce back win that would clinch them a Final Four berth while the Fighting Maroons seek a much-needed win that would keep them in the playoff mix.
Tip-off is at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
The Growling Tigers five-game winning streak was snapped the last time around after another one of their comeback bids fell short. With their team at 8-1 and one win away from booking a return to the Final Four, Kevin Ferrer and Ed Daquioag know now is not the time to trudge through a losing skid.
Consecutive defeats have dimmed what was once a hopeful 2-0 start for the Maroons who are now fighting for dear life standing at the sixth spot at 3-6. Coach Rensy Bajar remains confident about their chances and is counting on Jett Manuel to regain his early-season form and team up with emerging Paul Desiderio.
UST took the first round battle billed as “The Separation of Church of State” with a score of 67-59.
