If for some reason you still don't love the UP Fighting Maroons, then this activity should do the trick.
As part of the Manilakbayan: Kampuhan sa Diliman, a solidarity campaign done by UP for the idigenous people of Mindanao, the Fighting Maroons conducted a basketball clinic for Lumad children yesterday.
In a report by Tinig ng Plaridel, the idea came from team captain JR Gallarza in an effort to bring a little joy to the children who have gone through tragedy at a very young age.
“Back home in Canada, I was a basketball councilor and I had clinics like this, so I thought, ‘Why not hold one for the Lumads?’” Gallarza said per John Remmil Isaga of TNP.
The basketball clinic had five stations and featured a five-minute exhibition between the Yellow and Green Teams.
The team in Yellow won, 14-12, after a game-winner from a Lumad boy.Â
