DESPERATE TIMES. DLSU and NU suddenly find themselves in a tight battle for the fourth and final playoff spot.
Games on Wednesday at the MOA Arena
2:00 PM – Adamson vs FEU
4:00 PM – NU vs DLSU
Now in the second round of the 78th Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament, National University is mired in another 1-3 start that has them at 4-7 overall and clinging for dear life.
Just to have a chance to make it into the next round, the Bulldogs need to win out in their remaining schedule and it doesn’t get any easier as coming up next on Wednesday at the MOA Arena are the De La Salle University Green Archers angry from a unexpected upset.
The battle between the league’s last two champions commences at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
Both teams are coming off losses that suddenly tightened up the race for the fourth and final playoff spot.
DLSU’s unexpected upset at the hands of cellar-dwelling Adamson University dropped them to 5-5 and just a nose ahead of three other teams. With Jeron Teng unstoppable when driving into the lane and flanked by a lineup brimming with talent, however, the Archers still have the inside track.
One of those teams breathing down Taft Avenue is defending champion NU which, due to being the model of inconsistency throughout the season, is in danger of having their reign end early. While the defense remains rock solid, coach Eric Altamirano is yet to find a solution to their woes on the offensive end.
The Archers prevailed in a defensive battle, 67-63, the first time the two squads met.
