Desperate UP blocking Ateneo’s sights on Final Four

Ateneo de Manila University’s rocky first round is long gone and they are one win away from booking a ticket to the Final Four of the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Blue Eagles shoot for a fourth consecutive victory as well as a playoff berth on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum against a University of the Philippines side needing to win out in their remaining schedule to remain in contention.

This season’s second Battle of Katipunan commences at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.

Coming off a defeat to open the second round, the Eagles have rang off three wins in a row to claim and cement their place at third with a 7-4 record. With Kiefer Ravena back in form and guys like Von Pessumal and Arvin Tolentino giving stronger support, Bo Perasol’s boys are hoping to hit their peak at just the right time.

Meanwhile, the struggles continue for the Maroons who suffered back-to-back losses that dropped them to 3-7. With their remaining schedule not getting any easier, Jett Manuel, Paul Desiderio, and company hope to hit their groove to make good on rookie coach Rensy Bajar’s goal of making the Final Four.

Ateneo claimed the first Battle of Katipunan, 56-43.
