PRIVATE MATTER. Chibueze Ikeh is now back in Ateneo after spending one night in police custody.
While still unclear if his so-called private matter has been completely resolved, it can now be confirmed that Ateneo de Manila University’s Chibueze Ikeh is no longer in police custody at the Quezon City Police District’s Camp Karingal.
Blue Eagles’ head coach Bo Perasol confirmed the development to ABS-CBN Sports on Thursday afternoon. Team manager Epok Quimpo added that the Cameroonian center is currently at the school campus in Katipunan.
Ikeh posted bail amounting to PhP 24, 000 after spending a night in police custody.
Following Ateneo’s game last Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum, the 24-year old was taken in by authorities who were responding to a complaint regarding alleged violations of the Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act.
Then, board member Emmanuel Fernandez said in his short statement to media, “It’s a private matter. Nothing to do with Ateneo basketball. Nothing to do with the UAAP. It’s just a private matter.”
Fernandez also said that Ikeh will play when Ateneo meets archrival De La Salle University on Sunday.
