BARING THEIR TEETH. NU hopes to have another late run that will allow them to keep their crown.
Games on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum
11:00 AM – NU vs UP
4:00 PM – DLSU vs Ateneo
With a 5-7 slate this late in the UAAP 78 Men’s Basketball Tournament, no one is counting out National University just yet.
After all, the Bulldogs nearly missed out on the playoffs a season ago before turning it on in their last two assignments in the elimination round to ultimately claim their first title in four decades.
The defending champions attempt to replicate their magical run from last year while also knocking off the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
NU and UP fight to stay in contention at 11:00 AM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
The Bulldogs have been the model of inconsistency throughout and that has them just barely holding on to their crown. While offense has been coach Eric Altamirano’s headache all season long, J-Jay Alejandro has become a ray of hope with outbursts in two of their last three outings.
A sputtering offense has dashed what was once a hopeful start to the season for the Maroons. After back-to-back wins right off the gates, Rency Bajar’s boys have had difficulty putting points on the board and as they spiraled downwards with eight loses in nine games.
One of those was when NU beat down on UP, 68-52, back in the first round.
