USE TUMULTUOUS IN A SENTENCE. Ateneo has heaved a huge sigh of relief after they come out of an intrigue-filled week still on a winning streak.
Ateneo de Manila University may be surging on the court, but it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for them out of it.
With Chibueze Ikeh finding himself in the middle of intrigue last Wednesday and the Blue Eagles tackling archrival De La Salle University on Sunday, “tumultuous” was how coach Bo Perasol described their past few days.
For those of us who are unaware of what the word means (Kiefer Ravena joked in the post-game conference that he didn’t even know how to spell it), Webster’s dictionary defines it as “involving a lot of violence, confusion, or disorder.”
That is exactly why after Ateneo overcame the Green Archers, all three of their representatives in the post-win interview did nothing but heave a huge sigh of relief. As Perasol put it, “This is a good way to cap our tumultuous week. It was a big win emotionally for us.”
Ravena then said, for his part, “Nakakatuwa kasi andami naming pinagdaanan the past week. Nagkaroon kami ng opportunity to be even closer as a team.”
Even soft-spoken Von Pessumal could only voice out the same sentiment. “This victory means a lot for our morale. The heat was on us. We just wanna thank the alumni and fans for staying with us,” he said.
