OUT FOR MORE. Aljun Melecio and DLSZ will be out to make another statement in the continuation of the UAAP 78 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena

9:00 AM – Ateneo vs FEU-Diliman

11:00 AM – UE vs Adamson

1:00 PM – UPIS vs DLSZ

3:00 PM – NU vs UST

Aljun Melecio made sure De La Salle Zobel’s campaign in the UAAP 78 Juniors Basketball Tournament got off a rousing start by pouring in a career-best 42 points.

While it would be pretty difficult to surpass, or even just match, such feat, the Junior Archers’ gunslinger will still try to do so on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena as he leads the Junior Archers against the University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Maroons.

Melecio was unstoppable in the season-opener as he shot a superb 58 percent from the field. Only one other Junior Archer ended in double-digits and they would need to turn in more of a team effort as coach Boris Aldeguer said, “It’s just one game. We can’t rely on just one person.”

Trying to frustrate Aldeguer and his boys will be UPIS who put up a stand up effort before running out of gas in the endgame. Juan and Javi Gomez de Liano will again be at the head of the attack for the Diliman-based squad who are looking to get back to contention.

Melecio commences with his encore at 1:00 PM, right before Nazareth School of National University guns for back-to-back wins against University of Sto. Tomas High School who will be gunning for a 2-0 start of their own at 3:00 PM.

Meanwhile, the gameday begins at 9:00 AM with Ateneo de Manila High School looking to rebound from their defeat at the hands of their archrivals and get their title defense on track. Jolo Mendoza and the Blue Eaglets shoot for win number one at the expense of the Far Eastern University-Diliman Baby Tamaraws.

Afterwards at 11:00 AM, Adamson High School and University of the East High School dispute their first victory of the season.
