STILL THE ONE. NU is still the top dog behind the continued strong play of Justine Baltazar and John Lloyd Clemente.

In making sure Nazareth School of National University remains perfect in the 78th Season of the UAAP Juniors Basketball Tournament, Justine Baltazar and John Lloyd Clemente also continued to take the thunder away from Aljun Melecio and Jolo Mendoza.

Baltazar pounded in his third straight double-double and Clemente was all over the stat sheet in the Bullpups’ 77-65 triumph over University of the Philippines Integrated School at the San Juan Arena, Tuesday.

The NU team captain posted 16 points and 17 rebounds while his long-limbed running mate had for himself 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists to never allow their opponents to even threaten. The Bullpups still stand at solo first holding a 4-0 win-loss card.

Meanwhile, De La Salle Zobel, Ateneo de Manila High School, and Far Eastern University-Diliman are still nipping at the heels of the league-leaders following separate victories that all moved them to 3-1.

Melecio fired 18 markers and the Junior Archers walloped University of the East by 28 points, 107-79. The offense that went missing the last time around was in full display and buried the Junior Warriors to 0-4.

In another contest, Mendoza scored 20 points as the Blue Eaglets tamed University of Sto. Tomas, 79-56. The decision gives the defending champions their third win in a row and relegated the Tiger Cubs to 2-2.

In the day’s other game, the Baby Tamaraws survived Adamson High School, 51-49, behind a balanced attack.
