LAST BITE: Gelo Alolino led the defending champion NU Bulldogs into the Final Four after a rough start to Season 78. They were eventually eliminated by the top-seeded UST Growling Tigers
Just a day removed from seeing Kiefer Ravena and Von Pessumal take flight one last time as Ateneo Blue Eagles, another team with a handful of graduating seniors looked to keep their season alive for at least one more game, the defending champion NU Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs went up against the top-seeded UST Tigers, and while many predicted that the Bulldogs to push the series to a deciding game.
UST was having none of that however, as the Tigers controlled the majority of the game and dispatched the defending champs and move on to the Finals, thanks to an all-around performance from Louie Vigil.
As NU’s season ended, so did the UAAP careers of captain Gelo Alolino, Paolo Javelona, Kyle Neypes, Reden Celda, and Jeoff Javillonar.
Alolino, who led the team in scoring this year, was moved to tears as he and his fellow seniors raised their hands and sang the Nationalian Alma mater hymn for the last time wearing the blue and gold.
A year ago, Alolino, Javelona, Neypes, and Celda were part of the core that brought NU all the way to their first title in six decades.
