CO-MVP. Kevin Ferrer is an unofficial co-MVP after award winner Kiefer Ravena shared the honor with him.
Forget about the rules.
Despite being a whole two points ahead of his runner-up in the race for MVP, Kiefer Ravena still whole-heartedly shared his latest accolade with Kevin Ferrer.
On his way to accepting his second straight trophy as the UAAP’s top player on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum, the Ateneo de Manila University star pulled his longtime rival from University of Sto. Tomas towards the front and saw to it that the two of them raised the award together.
Later in his conversation with media, Ravena explained his actions by saying, “Kevin also deserves to win the MVP. More than the numbers, I’m proud of him because he has really evolved into a great team leader.”
Calling Ferrer one of his closest friends, the now back-to-back MVP said that its sharing the award was an only fitting end to all the years the two of them spent together in the UAAP. “More than the award, it’s the companionship and the competition we shared throughout,” he said.
