ON OUR WAY. NU is set to face a couple of lightweight opponents ahead of their highly-anticipated Finals rematch with Ateneo.
Games on Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym
9:00 AM – Adamson vs UST
11:00 AM – DLSZ vs FEU-Diliman
1:00 PM – UE vs NU
3:00 PM – UPIS vs Ateneo
Nazareth School of National University’s path towards keeping a perfect card until a highly-anticipated rematch with the defending champions looks pretty much clear.
Or so would University of the East have them think as the Junior Warriors set up for an ambush of the Bullpups on Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
NU stakes the only remaining perfect card in the 78th Season of the UAAP Juniors Basketball Tournament at 1:00 PM.
Justine Baltazar’s third double-double in a row powered the Bullpups to an easy win in their most recent outing. Already in dominant form, Baltazar and company are tipped to mow down their next two opponents ahead of their matchup with Ateneo de Manila High School.
Determined to prove projections wrong, however, the Junior Warriors are gunning for a monumental upset that would also constitute their first triumph in four tries. Batang Gilas member Jetrho Publico will be at the forefront of the attempt.
Meanwhile, De La Salle Zobel and Far Eastern University-Diliman contest at least a share of second at 11:00 PM. The only losses of both teams thus far have come at the hands of NU and Junior Archer Aljun Melecio and Baby Tamaraw Kenji Roman are hoping to keep it that way.
At 3:00 PM, defending champion Ateneo could match either of them there if it successfully passes the challenge posed by neighboring University of the Philippines Integrated School. Trying to put an end to Jolo Mendoza’s hot streak and the Blue Eaglets’ three-game winning streak will be the Junior Maroons who are nothing but hungry for win number one.
In the gameday’s curtain-raiser at 9:00 AM, Adamson High School and University of Sto. Tomas High School fight over a bounce-back win.
